HEUFT at Doemens:

"An all-around successful project"

The Doemens Academy in Gräfelfing, Germany, opened

its state-of-the-art filling and packaging technology centre

in mid-September 2022, offering students of brewing, beverage

and food technology a highly practical training experience.

HEUFT had provided the plant, which Doemens also uses

for contract filling with checking, inspection and

bottle transport systems free of charge. On the

occasion of the 130th Doemens anniversary, we look back

on the project – and forward together!

Artificial intelligence is also becoming increasingly relevant in the inspection of empty and full containers. In this interview, Dirk Henschke, our product manager responsible for X-ray inspection, explains how it helps to recognise foreign objects even better and prevent wastage of packaged and food products.

Irradiating organic products?

Those who fill and package organic food often shy away from using an X-ray inspection system in order to detect foreign objects. However a glass in glass detection with careful and precise pulsed X-rays is not only advisable but in many cases also compliant with the strict regulations in this growing sector particularly when it comes to environmentally friendly glass packaging.

An intelligent optical inspection unit ensures the  Container Closure Integrity

(CCI)  of filled vials. To do this, it checks the presence and correct seating

of their rubber stoppers, while also identifying unwanted  product splashing

of freeze-dried preparations.  Its hygiene-optimized design  allows it

to be used in laminar flow areas of cleanroom class A.
